Excelsiors and Ponthir called off due to injury

Last night’s game was been abandoned after a Ponthir AFC player suffered a nasty injury within the opening 10 mins.

It’s understood that the player wasn’t involved in a challenge but twisted awkwardly. An ambulance was called immediately but after 60 minutes without sight of the emergency services, it was mutually decided to call the game off.

The Excelsiors were looking in fine form in the early going, with a returning Jordan Harford scoring after a chip over the opposition goalkeeper to put the lads 1-0 in front before the unfortunate injury.

We expect to reschedule the game for next week, with venue and kickoff time to be confirmed.

Not only that, but she also generously gave a donation from Barney’s Fund of £550 towards their efforts!

The Oak FC with amazing show of respect for Barney

‪The Oak FC will made a fantastic gesture today, when they presented the Vets team with his memorial pennant at kickoff at the Woodland Field.

An amazing show of respect and kindness from everyone at the club, which is reciprocated with appreciation tenfold by ourselves.‬ Thank you to all at The Oak FC for helping immortalise Barney for us all.

Matthew Thomas announced as new Club Secretary

We would like to formally announce that Matthew Thomas has accepted the role of Club Secretary going forward, following the sudden passing of longtime Excelsiors stalwart and Secretary, Keith Williams in September.

In recent weeks, Matthew has offered of his time and skills to aid the club during an especially turbulent time and last night agreed to take on the mantle held by Keith for the longest time.

His first foray into this new experience for him was the creation of the club programme for the home game against Pill AFC, using the preferred format of his irreplaceable predecessor and adding his own new features to it, something that Keith himself planned to do prior to his passing.

We appreciate the commitment and willing that Matty has made, with us looking forward to him continuing Keith’s indelible legacy and forging his own over the course of future seasons.
